Don't do these things
Don't game the marketplace
- Don't solicit couples to book off-platform after meeting them through United Vows. The platform fee + escrow protection are how the marketplace works for everyone.
- Don't inflate ratings: no fake reviews, no incentivized reviews, no review trading. Reviews must reflect actual experience.
- Don't list services you're not licensed, insured, or qualified to provide.
- Don't use multiple accounts to redeem promotional codes more than once.
- Don't recommend vendors as part of a paid arrangement on cross-vendor surfaces. Recommendations should reflect genuine professional trust.
Don't abuse our payment, wallet, or e-signature systems
- Don't initiate or file an ACH unauthorized-return claim under NACHA Rules for any payment you actually authorized. An unauthorized-return claim made as to a payment you actually authorized is a breach of the Terms of Service and may be pursued, including by clawback against the vendor and recovery against you.
- Don't use Vendor Wallet funding, automatic reload, electronic-signature billing, or any other Platform billing feature to commit chargeback fraud (for example, funding the Wallet and then issuing a chargeback while retaining or spending the credited balance, or initiating an electronic-signature send and then claiming it was unauthorized).
- Don't attempt to abuse the cancellation-before-signature refund mechanic to obtain electronic-signature credits without intending to send genuine contracts.
- Don't share, sell, or transfer Vendor Wallet credits to third parties. Wallet credits are closed-loop and non-transferable.
- Don't disable, evade, or work around our anti-fraud controls (Stripe Financial Connections bank-ownership verification, the cleared-funds rule, the Direct Release anti-fraud hold, NACHA WEB-debit authorization capture, automatic-reload threshold and frequency limits, or any other risk control).
Don't harass or harm other users
- No harassment, hate speech, threats, or targeted abuse, in messages, group chat, guestbook entries, reviews, or anywhere on the platform.
- No discrimination based on race, religion, national origin, gender identity, sexual orientation, marital status, disability, age, or any protected characteristic.
- No sharing of personal information about others without consent (no doxing).
Don't abuse our systems
- No scraping, mass-extracting, or systematically copying data from the platform. That includes vendor profiles, couple profiles, and reviews.
- No automated access (bots, crawlers) without our express written permission. Search engine crawlers respecting robots.txt are excepted.
- No probing for or exploiting security vulnerabilities. Responsible disclosure is welcome at security@unitedvows.com.
- No malware, phishing payloads, or other malicious content uploaded anywhere (profile photos, message attachments, registry items, real-wedding showcases).
- No flooding our public endpoints with traffic. Rate limits are in place; violation attempts are logged.
Don't abuse the platform's communication channels
- No outbound calls or email sent through United Vows infrastructure to recipients who have not consented to receive them, including any use of the AI Receptionist to place calls to numbers on a do-not-call list. The same prohibition applies to SMS if and when an SMS feature is enabled on the platform (no SMS sending is in production at launch).
- No spam, mass-unsolicited messaging, or use of cross-vendor channels for purposes other than coordinating the underlying wedding.
- No bypassing or attempting to bypass the opt-out (STOP) keyword handling (if and when SMS is enabled), the do-not-call registries, or the platform's TCPA-compliance controls.
Don't misrepresent yourself
- No impersonating another person, business, or organization.
- No creating accounts in someone else's name.
- Vendors: no claiming credentials, awards, or affiliations you don't actually hold. We do periodically verify professional claims; results of verification are reflected in vendor profile badges.
Don't misuse AI features
- Don't prompt AI features to generate harmful content (illegal advice, instructions for weapons or fraud, child sexual abuse material, or content that incites violence).
- Don't pass AI-generated text off as a vendor's personal endorsement, review, or testimonial.
- Don't generate, upload, or display deepfake or AI-generated likenesses of real people (other than yourself with your own consent) without the depicted person's express consent. This includes AI-generated portfolio images that show identifiable third parties.
- Don't generate or upload AI-generated content that simulates a wedding outcome, vendor work product, or testimonial in a way that misleads other users.
Don't violate the law
- No infringing copyright or trademark. Don't upload photos you don't have rights to. Vendors must have rights to their portfolio.
- No fraud, money laundering, tax evasion, or sanctions evasion.
- No services that are illegal in the jurisdiction where they're provided, including services that violate state or local zoning, licensing, alcohol-service, fireworks, or controlled-substance laws.
Reporting violations
See something off? Report it. From any vendor profile, click the "Report" link. From a message thread, use the report icon. For broader concerns, email trust@unitedvows.com. We review reports promptly and protect reporter identity unless legally compelled otherwise.
What happens when policy is violated
We respond proportionally:
- First-time minor issues usually get a warning + content removal.
- Repeat or serious violations result in suspension. Vendors will receive notice describing the conduct that triggered suspension and a 14-day opportunity to respond before any account termination takes effect, except in cases described in the immediate-termination paragraph below.
- Egregious violations (fraud, abuse of safety mechanisms, illegal content, repeat IP infringement, abuse of the platform's communication infrastructure) result in immediate suspension or termination without prior notice. We may, in our discretion and as required by law, refer matters involving suspected criminal conduct to law enforcement.
- Active bookings, escrow funds, and dispute proceedings remain subject to our normal processes even after account termination.
Appeals
If you believe an enforcement action was applied in error, you may appeal by emailing trust@unitedvows.com within 30 days of the action. We will review the appeal and respond within 14 business days. Appeals are reviewed by personnel other than those who made the original enforcement decision.
Updates
We may update this policy as the platform evolves. Material changes are communicated by email and in-app notice at least 30 days before they take effect.
