The Monkey House

The Monkey House is a live music and event venue located at 1638 University Ave in Berkeley, founded and hosted by singer-songwriter Ira Marlowe. The venue operates as a listening room with a stage, sound system, stage lights, and a black velvet curtain, hosting songwriters, comedians, storytellers, and other performers, with doors opening at 7 and shows starting at 7:30. Ira Marlowe opened the Monkey House in June of 2012, and in 2017 landed a job teaching songwriting for UC Berkeley's Music Department. Located in Berkeley at 1638 University Ave, between California and Jefferson.
