"This landmark venue, designed as an opera house in 1892, hosts concerts by well-known musical acts."
Thalia Hall is a historic Chicago concert venue located in the Pilsen neighborhood, built in 1892 and modeled after the Prague opera house by architects Faber and Pagel. The venue hosts a wide array of music, community, and artistic events within a landmarked 1892 building that includes a main hall, a punch-focused cocktail bar called Punch House, a piano bar called Tack Room, and an on-site restaurant. Granted landmark status in 1985, the hall was relaunched in September 2013 by owners Bruce Finkelman and Craig Golden, who restored it after it had been closed to the public since the 1960s. Located in the Pilsen neighborhood of Chicago, at the corner of 18th and Allport. Reviewers consistently praise the building's historic architecture, strong sightlines from both the main floor and balcony, good acoustics, clean restrooms, and welcoming staff; parking is noted as the main drawback, with street parking and a nearby private valet as the primary options.
