The Smell is a Los Angeles all-ages art and music space operating on a volunteer-run, not-for-profit, DIY model since 1998. The venue hosts experimental and independent music shows at $5-$15 admission, maintains an alcohol-free policy, and includes a vegan snack bar, art on the walls, and a zine collection. Open since 1998 with more than 25 years in downtown Los Angeles, including a 360-degree virtual reality tour released in 2017 directed by Gil Kenan and Vice Cooler in collaboration with Butcher Bird Studios.
