"Funky folk art venue provides mosaicked galleries, a sculpture garden maze & educational programs."

Philadelphia's Magic Gardens is a Philadelphia folk art venue featuring mosaicked galleries, a sculpture garden maze, and educational programs, built by artist Isaiah Zagar over five decades of work on South Street. The site is constructed from mosaics of tiles, glass bottles, mirrors, and found objects including bicycle wheels, with guided tours, scavenger hunts, exhibitions, and events available to visitors. Isaiah Zagar (1939-2026) began making mosaics in the late 1960s during his recovery from a mental health crisis, ultimately mosaicking more than 200 public walls throughout Philadelphia and beyond over more than 50 years; his work is held in the collections of the Philadelphia Museum of Art and the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, among others, and he received grants from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Pew Charitable Trusts. Located on South Street in Philadelphia. Visitors highlight the volume of artwork and photo opportunities throughout the space, note that tickets are affordable and must be purchased online in advance, and describe the overall experience as unlike anything else they have seen.
