National Sawdust is a Brooklyn-based non-profit cultural venue that commissions, produces, and presents programming rooted in sound, supporting multidisciplinary artists and arts organizations in the creation of innovative new work. The venue operates a flexible chamber hall with a Meyer Sound Constellation acoustic system and Spacemap spatial sound, capable of emulating the acoustics of a chamber music venue, symphony hall, or cathedral from a single physical space. It offers artists commissions, workshops, residencies, recordings, mentorship, and professional development across musical genres. Founded in 2015 and co-founded by composer Paola Prestini, who serves as artistic director alongside managing director Ana De Archuleta, the venue is constructed within the shell of a century-old sawdust factory in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, and has been described by the New York Times as "the city's most vital new-music hall." Located at 80 North 6th St, Brooklyn, NY 11249, approximately a 10-minute walk from the L train. Visitors consistently highlight the intimate setting, sound quality, flexible configurations including cabaret and standing room, no bad sightlines in the house, and a clean, well-organized space with friendly staff.
