Bargemusic is a Brooklyn chamber music concert series, founded in 1977, now presenting admission-free concerts at the Brooklyn Bridge Park Boathouse after nearly five decades on a floating barge at the foot of the Brooklyn Bridge. Bargemusic presents chamber music on a small stage with views of the East River and lower Manhattan skyline, featuring both established and emerging musicians across a wide range of genres including classical and jazz, with programming curated by artistic director and violinist Mark Peskanov. Founded in 1977 by violinist Olga Bloom, Bargemusic has presented close to nine thousand concerts; Mark Peskanov has served as president and artistic director since 2005, curating approximately five thousand chamber concerts during his tenure. Based in Brooklyn, at the Brooklyn Bridge Park Boathouse, Pier 5. Attendees consistently highlight the intimate setting, the backdrop of the Manhattan skyline, and the quality of live performances, noting programs that have included Vivaldi, Beethoven, and other classical repertoire in a cozy, relaxed atmosphere.
