Music Before 1800

Music Before 1800 is New York City's oldest early music concert series, presenting historically informed performances of vocal and instrumental chamber music at Corpus Christi Church. The series programs sacred and secular music ranging from Medieval to early Classical, performed on period instruments such as lutes, viols, harpsichords, and natural horns, by ensembles and artists from the United States, Canada, and Europe. Founded in 1975 by Louise Basbas, Music Before 1800 has presented over 500 concerts across 50 seasons in New York City. Concerts are held at Corpus Christi Church in New York City, with select performances available for online streaming.
