"Photo-filled lounge with dining, cocktails & live piano or guitar music with participation singing."

The Alley is an Oakland piano bar and restaurant founded in 1934, offering nightly live piano and guitar music with open-mic singing, cocktails, and dinner service. The Alley is known for its participatory sing-along format around a grand piano, a menu of classic American fare including hamburgers, cornmeal crusted fried chicken, and steak, and walls covered with approximately 40,000 to 50,000 business cards stapled up by visitors from around the world. Founded in 1934 and described by the East Bay Express as 'Dashiell Hammet in Disneyland,' The Alley has been designated a Heritage Property by the City of Oakland and has been listed in the Lonely Planet Guide, Rough Guides, and the GrassRoutes Travel Guide to Oakland. Located on Grand Avenue in Oakland, CA, near the Grand Lake Theatre and the Lake Merritt estuary. Reviewers call it one of the most memorable and unique experiences in the area, consistently praising the casual sing-along atmosphere, the resident pianists, and the food, particularly the steak.

This vendor hasn’t completed verification

Verified vendors have uploaded credentials such as a business license or proof of insurance, and our team reviewed each document by hand. Verification is a trust signal, not a requirement: you can still reach out, and payments run through Stripe either way.

The Alley hasn't claimed their United Vows profile yet, but you can still reach them.

We don't have an email address on file for The Alley, so we can't forward an inquiry to them. The way to reach them today is to call (510) 444-8505. You can still send one here — we'll keep it on your inquiries list, and it will be waiting for them the moment they claim this profile.

Two things worth knowing before you transact:

If your booking happens on United Vows: A $100 United Vows welcome or favor credit, if you hold one — this credit comes off one booking here, in full, funded from our commission on it, once that booking is a booking of $2,900 or more, paid to them in a single payment of at least $1,500 — you get messaging, quotes and contracts in one place, your payment runs securely through Stripe against a signed contract, and if the vendor no-shows, cancels close to your date or delivers nothing you can file a claim from the booking, which they have seven days to answer.
If the booking happens off-platform: none of the above. Your credits don't redeem. We can't help if anything goes sideways.

The simplest move: when you reach out, ask The Alley to claim their profile. It's free and takes a few minutes. It keeps your booking on the platform where everything we built for you actually works.
