Artichoke Community Music is a Portland-based nonprofit venue, music school, and instrument store rooted in the folk tradition, operating since 1973. Artichoke hosts live music events, open mics, song circles, jams, and classes, with a focus on keeping events low-cost or free and supporting local musicians and emerging voices. Artichoke Community Music has been based in Portland since 1973, led currently by Executive Director and Booker Leah Mocsy. Located at 2007 SE Powell Blvd in Southeast Portland, Oregon. Visitors consistently highlight the intimate scale of the venue, the quality of the sound system, the knowledgeable and friendly staff, and the variety of used and refurbished instruments available in the store.
