First Avenue is a Minneapolis live music venue, operating as a downtown danceteria since 1970 and described as one of the longest-running, independently owned and operated venues in the United States. First Avenue hosts concerts across multiple stages, has served as a launching pad for artists including Husker Du, the Replacements, Semisonic, Hippo Campus, Soul Asylum, Lizzo, and Prince, and also offers private events. Open since 1970, First Avenue has grown to include several venues throughout Minneapolis and St. Paul, among them the 7th St Entry (since 1980), Fine Line (since 1987), Turf Club (since 1945), and the Palace Theatre (since 2017).
